BANKSY: My brand new future ex-boyfriendinsert “Love” between “my” and “e-mails”
Back in Cincinnati this summer I went to a documentary with my good friend Andrew VanSickle (an artist) about street art. I was a little skeptical at first (or I could say semi-interested) about this documentary called “Exit through the gift shop“. Well, anyone that had seen it can second my opinion on the fact that it is AMAZING!!! The documentary depicts what street art is coming to in terms of being recognized as real art and not just some graffitis on concrete. In the movie they introduced Banksy, an artist that had been hiding his identity, voice, and appearance while becoming one of the (or in my opinion THE) best street artist in the whole world.
Watch this (extended) trailer it rocks
in the documentary they even describe in details the story on his he got a prisonner into Disney Land
Banksy really takes his art to a new level by combining paint with sculpting and even taking already existing flaws in the walls and turning them into actual art. Not only does he manage to do that but also he manages to make it “cool” and appealing to the younger society and make them even interested in art !!! Here are a few examples of his street beauties (click on the picture to see details)
And back in Chicago this summer, I even got to take a picture with my OWN Banksy !nooooo, don’t let the baby dropppp
That is one step closer to actually meeting him, and actually seeing his face. Well this brings me to the punch of this post: Banksy recently was asked to come up with the opening credits for a Simpsons episode, and needless to say he killed it. Andrew posted it on my facebook wall and I was amazed and appalled at the same time, which is kind of hard to achieve for a Simpsons episode intro. He manages to once again open our minds and spike our curiosity on current topics by challenging what (we think) we already know !!! The music, the darkness, everything…
So tell me now, do you love Banksy as much as I do ?!!
